I'm Lach. I'm a fourth generation gardener, and I've spent the last 16 years working in spatial design — first in Canberra's landscape industry, now across gardens, courtyards and interiors Australia-wide. My family's history runs through nursery ownership, ecological conservation, gardening and landscape architecture; I grew up in this work.
In the last few years I've layered modern technology into the old knowledge — LiDAR scanning, 3D modelling and AI. The interesting part is the seam where they meet.
What I believe
In everything I do, I strive to contribute to a world I'd feel excited about living in — a regenerating world, one that is beyond sustainable, filled with experiences of wonder. And to fight against the threats to that future: climate change, land degradation, habitat loss, bad urban development, and every form of hate that makes the world smaller.
My work pairs very wild planting with calm, monolithic structure — the wildness does the living while the structure does the holding. I believe timeless design is a sustainability function: things made exceptionally well get kept, repaired and loved for generations.
The proof
The proof is my own home. I'm renovating WANN House — the gardens and the interiors — with every part filmed, costed and shared in the open on Instagram. A butterfly garden aiming at a hundred species. A stream. Eventually, a bathhouse.
The work
I take on a limited number of commissions each year: residential gardens, courtyards and interiors, and spatial experiences for brands who want people to remember standing in their space. Past work includes Molonglo Group's Dairy Road precinct and the Thor's Hammer front garden — you can walk through the projects here.
Based in Canberra, working Australia-wide. The minimum level of engagement is $10,000.
