What $25 a month gets you

01A recorded group call every monthWe meet on Zoom and I work through the questions members voted up, in as much detail as each one needs. If you cannot make the time, the recording goes in the library the same week.
02Ask about my work, or about yoursBoth are welcome and they are genuinely different questions. You can ask how I detailed something in my own house, or you can put your own drawing in front of me and ask what is wrong with it.
03Everything I publish, including the paid guidesYou get the entire Specification Library for as long as you are a member. Each month I also develop new guides from the questions people bring to the calls, so what you ask helps shape what gets made next.

There is no curriculum and there are no modules. You ask what you actually want to know, and it can be about something I am making or about something you are. The range below is wide because my work is: planting and gardens, renovations and the details inside them, the business of doing this for a living, and the tools that sit underneath all of it.

How a month actually runs

The first call is in the first week of September. Members vote on the day and the time, so it is set by whoever is in the room by then.

01You send questions whenever they come upAdd your questions to the group channel or email them to me. Photographs, drawings and half-formed ideas are all fine, and the messy ones are often the better questions.
02Members vote on what gets answeredVoting closes the day before the call so that I can prepare properly rather than think out loud at you. The questions that win are the ones the most people want to hear.
03We meet on Zoom, and I record itIf the time suits you, come and join the call. If it does not, the recording is in the library within the week, and the time itself is voted on by whoever is in the room that month. The questions that keep coming back get thorough guides explaining the whole process.
04The library of knowledgeEvery call gets cut up, written up and filed, so the questions you ask this month are what the next hundred people read. That is the part I want you to understand before you join.

Who this is for

You are impatient about how good you are at it now.
You have real work in front of you: a project, a business, a build, a body of work taking shape.
You want access to my opinion and my judgement.

It probably isn’t if

You want one to one time and a private session of your own. That is available but it is not currently live, so email me.
You are looking for a course with modules and certificates.
You want someone to do the work for you.
You mostly want to be told you are right.

What my feedback is actually like

I am gently critical, and that is the same for everyone. I will tell you honestly what I think of the work, including the parts that are not working, but I have no interest in being harsh for its own sake and nobody is getting taken apart in front of a room.

Every answer comes with what to do about it. A criticism with no next step attached is just an opinion, and you can get one of those anywhere.

Some people who join will be better designers than I am, and some will have been doing this a lot longer. That is completely fine and it makes for better calls. What I am offering is not authority over your work, it is a specific body of knowledge and a second perspective from someone who may notice things you do not.

One thing to know before you send anything in: this is a group, and it is recorded. The questions you ask and the projects you bring get answered on the call, and that call becomes part of the library everyone reads. If something is confidential, either keep it out or ask it without the identifying details.

The first hundred keep this price

The first hundred people can join for $25 a month, and that price stays the same for as long as you remain a member.

There is one important reason I am making the first hundred unusually cheap: you are helping me build this.

Right now, the library is small. I have years of work, drawings, details and knowledge, but relatively little of it has been properly documented and organised.

The live calls are how that changes.

Bring me your projects, drawings, questions and problems. I will answer them, and the useful parts will be recorded, edited and added to the library.

Over time, the questions this first group asks become the library everyone else gets to use.

What the first hundred get

The full library. Everything already there, and everything I add while you are a member.

The ability to ask me questions. You can bring your own work to the calls and ask for my opinion, help solving a problem, or feedback on a design.

The same price for as long as you stay. Your membership remains $25 a month. If you cancel and come back later, you join again under whatever the offer is at that point.

Once the first hundred places are filled, the structure changes. The $25 tier becomes library access only. If someone joining later wants to bring their own work to me and ask questions, that will sit in a separate tier at roughly three to four times the price.

The first hundred keep both.

That feels fair to me. You are helping create the thing everyone after you will be paying to access.

And while you are here, I will give you as useful an answer as I can. I am not interested in holding the good information back for another tier.

One thing to be clear about: this is group coaching. Questions and answers happen in front of the group and may become part of the library.
